The results of the scientific and creative competition “Ozone and Climate” were announced in Ashgabat on October 3. The competition was held as a joint initiative of the public organization “Young Naturalist”, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This was reported by the organizers.
The main goal of the “Ozone and Climate” competition, held in honor of the International Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, was to improve students’ knowledge about ozone layer protection, form an ecological culture, and develop scientific research and creative abilities.
Students in grades 7–12 from the capital’s secondary schools participated in the competition. They presented demonstration models and project works on the theme: “What can a person do to preserve the ozone layer and mitigate the effects of climate change?”
Based on the competition results:
- 1st place was awarded to the joint work of students from Ashgabat’s Secondary School No. 55: Hallyberdiyev Ybrayym, Akgaeva Akgul, Atayeva Aysha, and Demidovsky Stanislav.
- 2nd place went to students from Secondary School No. 15 in Ashgabat: Akhmedov Ahmet and Agamyradov Alyhan.
- 3rd place was secured by Durdyyeva Gulnur, a student from Ashgabat’s Secondary School No. 34.
Merjen Akyeva, an international relations specialist for the public organization “Yunyy Naturalist,” highlighted the significance of the competition:
“We are inspired by the great interest our youth show in ecology and climate topics. They presented innovative models and projects demonstrating the steps needed to protect the ozone layer and mitigate the effects of climate change. This competition unlocked their creative potential.”
The organizers presented the winners with memorable gifts. All participants received corresponding certificates.
