President of Turkmenistan Received the Newly Appointed Ambassador of India

On 22 October 2025, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan, Bandaru Wilsonbabu, who presented his credentials to the Head of State.

Congratulating the diplomat on his appointment to the high post, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished him success in his work aimed at further strengthening the multifaceted ties between Turkmenistan and India.

The Ambassador conveyed greetings to the President and the National Leader of the Turkmen people from President of India Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In response, the Head of Turkmenistan conveyed sincere wishes of health and success to the leadership of India.

During the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan attaches special importance to the development of friendly and constructive relations with India. Bilateral cooperation is successfully advancing in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, energy, transport, educational, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

It was emphasized that the relations between the two countries are based on principles of mutual respect and support, creating a solid foundation for further intensification of partnership both bilaterally and within the framework of international organizations.

Particular attention during the meeting was given to cooperation in the energy and transport sectors. President Berdimuhamedov highlighted the strategic importance of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project, as well as initiatives to develop associated transport corridors. The implementation of these projects will contribute to strengthening energy security and stimulating economic growth in the region, the Head of State stressed.

Issues of cultural and educational interaction were also discussed separately. The President noted the growing interest of Turkmen youth in studying the Indian language and culture, as well as the importance of expanding humanitarian contacts for the mutual enrichment of cultures and strengthening friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu assured that he would make every effort to further strengthen the traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and India.
