President Erdogan: our exports increased to 166 countries and regions

Highlights from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s remarks following the Cabinet Meeting:

  • Despite the ongoing war in our region, our exports demonstrated strong performance in April.
  • In April, our exports reached 25.4 billion dollars, marking an annual increase of 22.3 per cent.
  • Our exports for the January–April period totalled 88.63 billion dollars.
  • For the first time, our 12-month export volume rose to 275.8 billion dollars, setting a record in the history of our Republic.
  • A closer look at our export figures reveals a promising outlook.
  • Our exports increased to 166 countries and regions.
  • Export volumes rose across all 26 sectors.
  • In sectoral rankings, automotive maintained its lead with 3.9 billion dollars, followed by chemicals with 3.1 billion dollars, electrical and electronics with 1.8 billion dollars, and ready-to-wear apparel with 1.451 billion dollars.
  • We also attach particular importance to the fact that our defence and aerospace exports reached 962 million dollars.
  • In this field, we recorded a 28 per cent increase in the first four months of the year, achieving significant success.
  • Through the Family and Youth Fund, we provide financial support ranging from 200,000 to 250,000 Turkish lira to young people who wish to start a family.
  • We had previously introduced a provision for young beneficiaries of this credit who have children during the repayment period.
  • Accordingly, we decided to convert the 12 monthly instalments of couples who have their first child during the repayment period into a grant, and to defer the remaining instalments for 12 months.
  • We are now taking this one step further.
  • If a second child is born during the repayment period, we will convert all remaining instalments into a grant.
  • I hope this initiative will be beneficial for young couples. I also hope that the decisions taken at our Cabinet meeting will yield positive outcomes, and I once again extend my respectful greetings.
