Political consultations with the Islamic Republic of Iran

Political consultations on the level of the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran were held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan through videoconferencing.

Having expressed adherence to further development of bilateral ties, the parties discussed a number of inter regional issues and collaboration in the international format.

The significance of regular contacts between the Heads of States and the chiefs of external policy agencies of the countries was noted.  The Iranian side noted that the Government of Iran highly appraises the right policy of Turkmenistan under the wise leadership of the President of the country that helped to prevent the intrusion of the coronavirus to the territory of Turkmenistan.  It was stated that the actions of Turkmenistan may serve as an example in this regard.

The Iranian side expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for the humanitarian support in the difficult time.  Speaking about the international norms and principles, the parties noted that the main focus should be nevertheless made on the well-being of a human being.

Speaking about the necessity of uniting the efforts in view of the struggle with the spread of COVID-19, the diplomats made special accent on the search for optimal solutions for resuming trade-economic, transport- transit relations.  It was emphasized that the construction of structures for disinfection and fumigation at the check-points will accelerate the given process.

The parties also discussed the consular issues, activities of mass media, as well as further development of cultural and humanitarian relations.
