Orient TM: Makul Dictionary in Turkmen Media

On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence and the 30th anniversary of its Permanent Neutrality, reports about the publication of the Makul Dictionary in the United States continue to appear in Turkmen media. According to Orient.tm, in both its Turkmen and Russian editions, the newly published “Makul English–Turkmen Dictionary” makes an important contribution to promoting Turkmen linguistic culture at the international level.

The new dictionary contains 16,500 of the most commonly used English words, along with terminology in specialized fields such as law, business, medicine, sports, and artificial intelligence. This feature makes it not only a practical tool for everyday language but also a valuable reference for professionals.

The chief editor of the publication is Dr. Dovran Orazgylyjov, Doctor of Law, who emphasized that the purpose of the dictionary is to expand the international use of the Turkmen language, support younger generations in learning foreign languages, and assist professionals in their work.

The new dictionary has been released on Amazon, the world’s largest online bookstore.

According to Orient.tm, this large-scale work serves not only language learners but also translators, students, lawyers, economists, doctors, and IT specialists as an important reference tool.

International Recognition

World-renowned scholar S. Frederick Starr, Distinguished Fellow for Eurasia at the American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC) and Professor at Johns Hopkins University, praised the significance of this publication in the dictionary’s foreword. He noted that the dictionary “creates conditions for the Turkmen language to claim a worthy place at the international level” and described it as “an important bridge between languages.”

Eric Stewart, Executive Director of the U.S.–Turkmenistan Business Council, also emphasized: “Open communication is the foundation of trade and investment. This book will contribute to the expansion of long-term cooperation between our countries.”
