New regulations related to the issuance of electronic visas are being introduced in Turkmenistan

At the eighth session of the seventh convocation of the Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan, the draft Law of Turkmenistan “On Amendments and Additions to the Law of Turkmenistan ‘On Migration'” was discussed. The Law “On Migration” regulates migration relations in Turkmenistan in accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan and universally recognized norms of international law, and it defines the powers of the country’s state authorities.

One of the priority tasks outlined in the national programs of Turkmenistan is the active integration of information technologies into various sectors of the economy, the creation of secure digital infrastructure, and the expansion of digital services. In this regard, the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan is developing and continuously updating information systems to record, process, and store data.

Accordingly, the draft law introduces provisions concerning the rules for issuing electronic visas—an electronic document processed within the information system of the authorized state bodies of Turkmenistan, which grants foreign nationals and stateless persons permission to enter, stay in, leave, or transit through the territory of Turkmenistan.

The draft laws submitted for consideration at the regular session of the seventh convocation of the Mejlis were unanimously approved and adopted.
