Negotiations between the head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal

On August 7, 2025, in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic Ana Isabel Xavier.

At the beginning of the meeting, the guest noted the successful holding of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) and thanked the Turkmen side for the warm hospitality.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Portugal.

Interaction within international structures, in particular the UN, was considered.

The diplomats discussed the possibilities of establishing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including oceanography, digitalization and others. In this context, Ana Isabel Xavier invited the Turkmen side to participate in the Web Summit 2025 Conference scheduled to be held this year in Portugal.

At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to strengthening a constructive partnership based on the principles of mutual respect and equality.
