Memorandum Signed in Brussels on Establishing a WCO Regional Training Centre in Turkmenistan

On the sidelines of the 145th–146th Sessions of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council, held from 26 to 28 June 2025 in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Turkmenistan and the WCO to grant Regional Training Centre (RTC) status to the Training Centre in Ashgabat.

This Memorandum formalizes cooperation in enhancing the professional training of customs officers, expanding international educational collaboration, and implementing training programs aligned with WCO international standards.

The establishment of the RTC opens broad opportunities for capacity-building, including seminars, training sessions, and expert-led programs involving international specialists. The Centre will operate as part of the WCO’s global training network, serving both Turkmen customs officers and participants from the wider region.

The signing of this document marks a significant step in Turkmenistan’s integration into the global customs training framework and stands as further evidence of the trusted and constructive partnership between Turkmenistan and the WCO.
