Meeting with Dr Hans Kluge

On October 7, 2021, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Dr Hans Kluge, Director of the World Health Organization’s Regional Office for Europe (WHO/Europe).

During the constructive conversation, the sides noted the high level of interaction between Turkmenistan and the World Health Organization and exchanged views on topical issues of the international health agenda.

The Turkmen side informed the WHO Regional Director for Europe with the main initiatives and proposals put forward by the President of Turkmenistan at various international platforms in the field of healthcare, confirming the commitment of Turkmenistan to further develop and strengthen cooperation with WHO.

It was noted that the main condition for success in combating the common threat is the unification of all member states and UN institutions, excluding politicization and relying on the extensive use of tools and methods of scientific diplomacy.

In this context, the parties emphasized the importance of organizing the International forum of medical scientists «Health diplomacy is the foundation of a healthy world» on October 8, 2021 in Ashgabat to create the necessary conditions for a regular exchange of views and professional experience in the field of healthcare.
