Meeting of the delegation of Turkmenistan with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization

On 9 April 2025, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Hojamurad Geldimuradov met with the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, in the framework of his visit to Geneva.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current collaboration and possibilities for further cooperation between Turkmenistan and the WTO, including issues related to the process of Turkmenistan’s accession to the organization.

The WTO Director-General commended Turkmenistan’s efforts and proficiency in matters related to WTO accession. Okonjo-Iweala expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan – President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov – for strategic support in this regard.

At the end of the meeting, the readiness was confirmed to further deepen cooperation along the steps made by Turkmenistan towards the integration into the multilateral trade system.
