Meeting of the Ambassadors of Central Asian States with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea

On May 11, 2026, an official dinner was hosted by Cho Tae-yul, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, at his official residence for the Ambassadors of Central Asian states accredited to the Republic of Korea. Ambassador of Turkmenistan B. Durdyev attended the event.

The comprehensive exchange of views focused primarily on practical preparations for the first “Central Asia – Republic of Korea” Summit. The event is scheduled to take place in Seoul on September 16-17 this year.

During the meeting, the Korean Foreign Minister noted the progressive dynamics of cooperation across political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. He expressed confidence that the upcoming September Summit will elevate regional partnership to a qualitatively new level.

Regarding the bilateral agenda, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan emphasized the high level of interstate dialogue. This is clearly demonstrated by steady trade growth and expanding practical cooperation in key sectors.

The parties paid special attention to intensifying academic exchanges, organizing mutual Days of Culture, and expanding Korean language programs in Turkmenistan as key factors in bringing the two nations closer together.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan also expressed confidence that the Korean side will provide comprehensive support to ensure high organizational and substantive standards for the upcoming Summit. He reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to make all necessary efforts toward this goal.
