Medium-term strategy for ecology

On May 11, 2020, a multilateral meeting through videoconferencing on the discussion of issues related to the preparation of medium-term strategy of the United Nations Environment Programme for the period of 2022-2025 was held in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

 

The representatives of the United Nations Environment Programme, as well as the specialists of the organizations authorized in the field of nature protection and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the European Union countries, Turkmenistan, United Kingdom, Algeria, Lithuania, Peru, Serbia, Georgia and Canada took part in the session.

The Turkmen side was represented by the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Turkmenistan.  During the meeting, the process of developing the medium-term strategy for 2022-2025 was considered.

In turn, the Turkmen delegation told about the main vectors of state ecological policy successfully realized under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the initiatives put forward by our country in the field of environment protection, in particular the significance of preparation of the UN Special Programme for the Aral Sea.
