Malaysia’s Minister of Economy, Tuan Haji Akmal Nasrullah bin Mohd Nasir, will lead a high-level government and business delegation to Ashgabat for the 31st International Conference and Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – OGT 2026”, taking place on 21–23 October.
The delegation will include representatives of more than 20 Malaysian companies, creating new opportunities for direct business cooperation between companies from Turkmenistan and Malaysia. For the first time at OGT, Malaysian companies will be brought together within a dedicated Malaysia Pavilion, providing a focal point for business meetings and discussions on potential partnerships.

A key part of the delegation will be 14 Malaysian oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) companies participating through the “Hello OGSE Turkmenistan” International Market Access Programme of Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC). The companies represent capabilities across engineering, fabrication, operations and maintenance, specialised technical services, offshore support and digital solutions.

For Turkmen businesses, the Malaysian presence will provide an opportunity to establish direct contacts with international companies, explore joint projects and discuss cooperation in technology transfer, localisation, engineering, training and specialised services.
Malaysia already has a strong energy partnership with Turkmenistan. PETRONAS has operated in the country since 1996 and has invested approximately US$12 billion in Turkmenistan’s oil and gas industry.
The partnership entered a new phase in June 2026 with agreements covering offshore Blocks 19 and 20 in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, alongside plans for 2D seismic studies covering Blocks 11, 12, 13 and 14.
The arrival of more than 20 Malaysian companies at OGT 2026 reflects growing commercial interest in Turkmenistan and creates a practical platform for expanding cooperation from major energy projects to direct business-to-business partnerships.
OGT 2026 will bring together government representatives, international energy companies, investors, technology providers and business leaders in Ashgabat under the theme “Energy. Partnership. Progress.”
