Georgian Parliament Speaker meets President of Turkmenistan

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili met the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

At the meeting, the sides spoke about Georgia-Turkmenistan friendly relations and prolific cooperation both in bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations, accentuating the significance of joint regional projects development and trade-economic ties.

According to the Parliament’s press service, Shalva Papuashvili thanked Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the decision to open Shota Rustaveli’s monument in Ashgabat, which would contribute to the intensification of people-to-people ties.

In his turn, the President of Turkmenistan reconfirmed support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The meeting with the President of Turkmenistan was held within the framework of the Georgian Parliament’s official visit to Central Asia.
