Delegation of Turkmenistan participates in the Bonn Climate Change Conference

From 3 June 2024, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan N.Jumashov participates in the Bonn Climate Change Conference.

Representatives of ministries and environmental protection agencies of countries parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), international organizations, and scientific circles are taking part in the conference. Delegates from 198 countries met in Bonn to discuss preparations for the next conference of the UNFCCC (COP-29), which will be held from 11 to 22 November in Baku.

Speaking at the plenary session, the Turkmen side voiced Turkmenistan’s initiative to create a Regional Climate Technology Center for Central Asia under the auspices of the UN in Ashgabat, emphasizing its importance and timeliness.

Within the framework of the conference, the delegation of Turkmenistan met with the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Umayra Tagiyeva, the representative of the Green Climate Fund, Dr. Amgad Elmahdi, the Acting Director of the Climate Technology Centre and Network Rajiv Garg, and representatives of the UNFCCC Nutley Williams and Maya Tshwaradhe.

The Bonn Climate Change Conference will continue its work until 13 June 2024.
