Today, along with all sectors of national economy, various fields of science also experience considerable transformations. Of course, such transformations also make its due impact on various spheres of linguistics. At present, the state attaches a great significance to the development, enrichment and perfection of the Turkmen language, one of the main attributes of our independence. The scope of use of the Turkmen language also keeps growing. The interest in the Turkmen language, literature and cultural heritage also increases. Various manuals, dictionaries and textbooks are developed. International relations are expanded and international cooperation in different spheres are developed.
The demand for learning world languages as one of the means of communication between countries and peoples is also rising. In this regard, one should note that, as means of international communication, the significance of learning the English language is rather great. Today, beginning from kindergartens and secondary schools to higher educational establishments, great attention is paid to teach this international language. Private language centres function in all regions of the country.
The publication of the Makul English-Turkmen Dictionary in honour of the 34th anniversary of Independence Day and 30th anniversary of Neutrality Day of Turkmenistan also speaks of one of the joint efforts made to facilitate development of our native language and expansion of use of its scope as well as to help English language learners.
The fact that the dictionary, along with other fields, also covers such areas as law, business, economy, agriculture, medicine, sports and artificial intellect, considerably raises its significance as specialized terms provided in the dictionary with their explanations greatly ease the task of not only specialists, but that of ordinary users. Release of such dictionaries out of print is also a great gift for language students.
