Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed two resolutions concerning the holding of major international forums in the country in December 2025.
On 9–10 December 2025, the National Tourist Zone Awaza will host the International Conference titled “The Role of Women in Modern Society: Developing International Cooperation on the Path to Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”.
According to the resolution, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Supporting Children in Need of Guardianship are instructed to ensure the high-level organization of the forum in cooperation with the United Nations.
On the eve of the conference, a branch of this charitable foundation will be inaugurated in Awaza – an event described as an important social and humanitarian step ahead of the international women’s forum.
On 12 December, Ashgabat, will host an International Forum dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality status, International Day of Neutrality, and the declaration of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust”.
Preparations for this high-profile event have reached the final stage. In recent months, dozens of telephone conversations have been held with foreign ministers of other countries, and Turkmenistan’s embassies abroad have organized numerous working meetings.
Both forums highlight Turkmenistan’s proactive foreign policy aimed at strengthening international cooperation, promoting the ideas of peace, sustainable development and gender equality, as well as popularizing the country’s unique permanently neutral status recognized by the UN.
