A meeting was held between President Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Abe

On October 23, 2019, at the Akasaka Palace, a meeting was held between President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Welcoming the distinguished guest, the Head of the Japanese Government thanked the Head of Turkmenistan for accepting the invitation to visit Tokyo and taking part in the celebrations of the accession to the throne of Emperor Naruhito, as well as for the attention paid to issues of interstate relations. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also thanked President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the trust placed in Japanese companies operating in the Turkmen market and participating in major projects.

Noting that he was pleased to meet with the Head of the Japanese Government, the President of Turkmenistan addressed congratulations to the Prime Minister of Shinzo Abe and the people of Japan on the occasion of the enthronization of Emperor Naruhito. Having noted with satisfaction that over the past years, bilateral cooperation has gained a qualitatively new dynamic, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for his personal attention and keen participation in the development of Turkmen-Japanese relations.

During the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe exchanged views on the prospects of the Turkmen-Japanese partnership. In this aspect, the significant role is played by the activities of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees for Economic Cooperation, as well as joint business forums that help stimulate investment activity and determine effective forms and vectors of interaction. The importance of bilateral humanitarian and cultural contacts was also noted.

At the end of the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed confidence in expanding interstate cooperation and exchanged good wishes to each other, as well as to the peoples of the two countries.
