A delegation from Turkmenistan held meetings with ILO representatives in Geneva

On November 18, a delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Oguljennet Berdiliyeva, Chairperson of the National Center for Trade Unions, held a series of bilateral meetings with ILO representatives in Geneva.

In particular, meetings were held with ILO Assistant Director-General and Regional Director Beata Andres, Director of the ILO’s Bureau for Workers’ Activities Oliver Röpke, as well as Corinne Varga, Director of Labor Standards Department of the International Labor Organization, and others. The sides discussed the development of cooperation, the implementation of a joint Action Plan, and further steps to promote decent work, social dialogue, and the modernization of labor legislation.

It was also noted that Turkmenistan was the first country Oliver Röpke visited after taking office, which was seen as an important sign of trust and recognition of the country’s proactive position on labor relations. ILO technical specialists held consultations with delegation members on the ratification and practical implementation of international labor standards.

ILO representatives commended Turkmenistan’s efforts to strengthen labor rights protection, combat forced and child labor, and ensure safe working conditions. The parties expressed their willingness to continue their joint work.
