The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the French Republic organized a mass cycling ride in Paris, on the occasion of the World Bicycle Day. The event gathered embassy staff with their families, members of the Turkmen community in France, and university students from both Turkmenistan and France in Paris.

The cycling route started at Champ de Mars near the Eiffel Tower and went through some of the most beautiful streets of Paris, passing many well-known landmarks. Participants rode across Bir-Hakeim Bridge, the Trocadéro Gardens, the Museum of Man, Avenue President Wilson, the Alma Bridge, and the area near the Military School. Along the way, they enjoyed views of the Grand Palais, Petit Palais, Les Invalides, and other historic places, experiencing Paris’s rich history, sporting spirit, and focus on environmental values.

During the event, Ambassador of Turkmenistan M. Chariev noted that World Bicycle Day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018 on the initiative of Turkmenistan. He explained that the day promotes cycling as an easy, eco-friendly, and healthy way of transport. He also stressed that every year on June 3, a large cycling event takes place in Ashgabat with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan. Similar events are also organized by Turkmen embassies in many countries around the world. The Ambassador added that the event brought together people of different nationalities and promoted sport, friendship, a healthy lifestyle, and care for the environment.
