Political consultations between Turkmenistan and Germany

On May 27, 2019, Turkmen-German political consultations were held in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The German delegation was headed by Michael Siebert, the authorized representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

During the political consultations, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in the framework of reputable international organizations, especially the EU, as well as the implementation of the EU Strategy for Central Asia. The parties also discussed the issues in the field of politics, economics, trade, energy, transport, health care, education. The sides exchanged views on a number of regional issues of international energy and environmental security.

Noting the productive nature of bilateral relations, the sides discussed the possibility of expanding the exchange of visits at different levels to familiarize with the potentials of the two countries in the areas of health and education.

Speaking about the next meeting of the Turkmen-German working group on economic cooperation, which is expected to be held in the Turkmen capital, the parties proposed to hold a business forum and cultural days of a friendly country as part of this event.

In addition, the parties expressed a number of proposals for further enhancing bilateral cultural and humanitarian relations, paying particular attention to museum activities and architecture.
