A roundtable discussion on key publications of the OSCE HCNM

On November 23, 2018, a round table discussion was held in Ashgabat on the publications of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM) regarding the Ljubljana recommendations on the integration of diverse societies.

The event was attended by members of the OSCE HCNM delegation, representatives of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, ministries and relevant institutions, law enforcement agencies and public organizations of Turkmenistan.

Speaking at the round table, the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Mr. Lamberto Zannier, described in details the approaches to minority issues and the principles of their integration, rights and freedoms.

Then, the OSCE representatives made speeches and explained the topical recommendations of the OSCE HCNM, integration elements and policies in the field of integration of diverse societies, intersectoral approach to minority issues.

Based on the conclusions made during the round table, the participants noted the positive practice of Turkmenistan in this direction and expressed support for the idea of ​​creating regional consultations on minority issues. In addition, stressing the need for further cooperation efforts, the participants noted the interest in conducting research and sharing experiences on the integration of diverse societies.
