Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan Reaffirm Deepening Strategic Partnership in High-Level Phone Call

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a telephone conversation to discuss the expanding strategic partnership and good-neighborly relations between the two nations.

During the call, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Turkmenistan’s fruitful chairmanship and the successful hosting of major international events recently held in the Awaza National Tourist Zone, including the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, the CIS Summit, and the Caspian Ecological Forum.

The Uzbek President highlighted Turkmenistan’s key role in advancing multilateral dialogue, noting that the agreements reached during these summits open new horizons for sustainable development and regional stability.

In turn, Hero Arkadag expressed sincere gratitude to President Mirziyoyev for his significant personal contribution to strengthening the bonds of friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Both leaders expressed deep satisfaction with the active development of bilateral ties across political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. They emphasized that the sustained positive momentum in the Uzbek-Turkmen strategic partnership continues to gain practical substance through open and effective dialogue at the highest government level.

The discussion focused on several key priorities for future cooperation, including:

  • Trade & Industrial Cooperation: Increasing mutual trade volumes and expanding joint industrial initiatives.
  • Connectivity & Infrastructure: Accelerating strategic projects in the energy, agriculture, and transport-logistics sectors.
  • Cultural Ties: Intensifying humanitarian exchanges rooted in centuries-old bonds of friendship and shared historical traditions.

The leaders highlighted that regular top-level meetings—including those between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev—form a solid foundation for expanding ties in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

A central highlight of the discussion was the recent signing in Awaza of the historic Treaty on the Establishment of the High-Level Council for Strategic Partnership.

Both parties agreed that this new mechanism will ensure systematic, long-term coordination of joint efforts across key areas of the bilateral agenda.

Concluding the conversation after reviewing the schedule of upcoming high-level events, the two leaders reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to furthering Uzbek-Turkmen relations for the peace, stability, and prosperity of Central Asia.
