With 11 days remaining before the opening of the 31st International Conference and Exhibition Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan (OGT 2026), organisers report more than 1,300 registered delegates from 65 countries and have extended registration until 15 October.
The conference, scheduled for 21–23 October in Ashgabat, comes at an important time for regional energy cooperation, as Turkmenistan continues to advance major natural gas projects, expand international partnerships and explore opportunities for industrial development.
Held under the theme “Energy. Partnership. Progress.”, OGT 2026 will examine the future of natural gas, regional energy connectivity, investment and technological innovation.
Among the principal subjects will be the next phase of the Galkynysh gas field, the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) pipeline, offshore opportunities in the Caspian Sea and the development of gas processing and petrochemical industries.
Organised in cooperation with the Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), the pavilion will highlight the country’s expertise in offshore operations, engineering, energy services and industrial technologies.
The Malaysian delegation is expected to be led by Haji Akmal Nasrullah bin Mohd Nasir.
A proposed Malaysia–Turkmenistan Energy Partnership Roundtable could provide a platform for direct discussions with representatives of Turkmengas and Turkmennebit on equipment supply, technology transfer and industrial cooperation.
The initiative builds on longstanding bilateral energy ties, including PETRONAS’s presence in Turkmenistan since 1996.
A roundtable associated with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is also planned, placing professional development and technical expertise alongside strategic energy discussions.
The conference follows the 2025 anniversary edition, which welcomed more than 1,400 delegates from over 70 countries.
For Ashgabat, the significance of OGT extends beyond attendance figures. The event provides a platform for connecting Turkmenistan’s energy development priorities with international capital, technology and engineering expertise.
