“Makul Dictionary” Added to Stanford University Library Catalog

The “Makul English–Turkmen Dictionary: General, Law, Business, Medicine, AI, Sports” has been added to the official catalog of the Stanford University library system, one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in the world.

Located in the state of California, United States, Stanford University is recognized globally as a leading center for research, technology, law, medicine, and economics. The university’s library system includes millions of books, academic journals, digital databases, and rare publications. Stanford Libraries provide scholars and students with access to academic works, dictionaries, and specialized publications from around the world through its official catalog.

It is also noteworthy that Harvard University, another of the world’s most prestigious universities, previously added the “Makul English–Turkmen Dictionary” to its library catalog as well.

The “Makul English–Turkmen Dictionary” translates more than 16,500 English words into Turkmen.   • Amangeldi Baygeldiyev — Candidate of Philosophical Sciences

  • Shamil Roznazarov — Director of “Makul Hyzmat” Translation Center

  • Dowran Orazgylyjov — Doctor of Law, Author and Editor-in-Chief

The computer design of the book was completed by young specialist Ysmayyl Orazgylyjov. The publication process was supported by the “Makul Hyzmat” Translation Center.

International Recognition

The foreword of the dictionary is enriched with remarks from internationally recognized scholars and officials.

S. Frederick Starr (Eurasia specialist at the U.S. Foreign Policy Council and Professor at Johns Hopkins University) noted that the dictionary “creates the conditions for the Turkmen language to assume its rightful place internationally,” describing it as “an important bridge between languages.”

Eric Stewart (Executive Director of the U.S.–Turkmenistan Business Council) stated:

“Open communication is the foundation of trade and investment. This book will contribute to the expansion of long-term cooperation between our countries.”
