Turkmen equestrian art triumphantly presented in Baku

On March 4, 2026, a spectacular cultural event took place at the Bina Equestrian Center in Baku, featuring the legendary Galkynysh national equestrian games group from Turkmenistan. The performance of the renowned group was a true celebration of friendship and art, demonstrating the rich traditions of Turkmen horse breeding and the unique skills of the dzhigits.

The creative collective, which was awarded the highest prize at the International Circus Arts Festival in Monte Carlo in 2025, presented its program to the Azerbaijani public for the first time. The artists demonstrated the most complex elements of horse riding, virtuoso acrobatic tricks, and impeccable synchronisation, emphasising the high professionalism and long-standing traditions of the Turkmen school of equestrian art. The audience warmly welcomed the dynamic and spectacular performance, accompanied by prolonged applause.

The program also featured performances by masters of the State Circus of Turkmenistan and the State Equestrian Circus named after Gorogly in the city of Arkadag, who presented colorful acrobatic and artistic numbers reflecting the uniqueness of the national culture and modern achievements of the country’s circus art.

The highlight of the evening was the ceremonial appearance of horsemen carrying the national flags of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, symbolically emphasizing the fraternal relations and strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. The event made a significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations and the promotion of Turkmenistan’s cultural heritage abroad.

During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in equestrian sports and horse breeding was signed between the State Association “Turkmen Atlary” and the Equestrian Federation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
