London Stock Exchange welcomes the UK and Central Asian Foreign Ministers’ meeting to open the market

The London Stock Exchange was proud to host the Market Open Ceremony as part of the UK and Central Asian Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, bringing together senior representatives from the United Kingdom and the five Central Asian republics at the heart of London’s global financial centre.

The ceremony was part of the programme of meetings taking place in London, underlining the shared commitment of the UK and Central Asia to strengthening economic ties, deepening cooperation, and supporting long‑term, sustainable growth. Ministers highlighted the role of open, well‑functioning capital markets in fostering investment, resilience, and international partnership.

Hosted by Dame Julia Hoggett, CEO of the London Stock Exchange, alongside Lucy Rigby MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury, the Market Open Ceremony welcomed the Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The event reflected London’s position as the world’s most international stock exchange and a natural convening point for governments, investors, and businesses from across the globe.

As Central Asian economies continue to pursue reform and greater integration with global capital markets, the London Stock Exchange offers a platform to support access to international investors, high standards of governance, and long‑term capital formation.
