The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan, Gismat Gozalov, held a meeting with Davud Orazsahedov, Director of the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature, and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, it was noted that interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere is consistently expanding, with various joint projects being implemented. Notably, the Days of Azerbaijani Culture are scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan in 2026.
The parties also emphasized that cooperation in the fields of science and education remains one of the key pillars of bilateral relations. In this context, the importance of reciprocal visits by scientists and the deepening of institutional interaction between the scientific centers of the two countries was highlighted.
A special focus was placed on the significance of joint research regarding the legacy of the great Turkmen poet, Magtymguly Fragi. The interlocutors recalled the presentation of a collection of Magtymguly’s poems in the Azerbaijani and Turkmen languages, which took place in Ashgabat last year, as well as the opening of the Magtymguly Fragi Center for Turkmen Literature at the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) in 2025.
The sides stated that the cooperation documents signed between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in the fields of science and education are already yielding practical results. Discussions covered the implementation of joint scientific programs between universities and research institutes, the organization of conferences and symposiums, the exchange of young researchers, and the preparation of joint scientific publications.
In particular, the importance of expanding ties between the Muhammad Fuzuli Institute of Manuscripts (ANAS) and the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature, and National Manuscripts was emphasized through joint research, the exchange of manuscripts, digitization initiatives, and joint publications.
Furthermore, the diplomat and the institute director discussed opportunities for strengthening cooperation and implementing joint projects within the frameworks of UNESCO, TURKSOY, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, and the Turkic Academy.
