Uzbekistan Ready to Participate in Hydrocarbon Production Projects in Turkmenistan

Uzbekistan is ready to take part in hydrocarbon production projects on the territory of Turkmenistan. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Azizhoja Kobilov, speaking at the opening session of the International Conference “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025” (OGT 2025).

Key Areas of Bilateral Partnership

Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in the energy and oil and gas sectors is one of the key directions of mutually beneficial partnership.

Sustainable interaction has been established regarding supplies of Turkmen electricity and natural gas to Uzbekistan, supplies of gas condensate and other oil products.

In addition, Turkmen electricity is transiting through Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan, which contributes to increasing the energy reliability of supplies across the region as a whole.

“We support Turkmenistan’s efforts aimed at the further development of the energy sector and expanding the possibilities for energy resource supplies in the region. The expansion of partnerships between Central Asian and South Asian countries is of particular importance,” the Deputy Minister emphasized.

Priorities for Joint Work and Long-Term Partnership

Kobilov noted the importance of joining the potential of the two countries in such priority areas as the extraction and processing of hydrocarbon raw materials and the development of the gas chemical industry.

“Uzbekistan is ready to participate in hydrocarbon production projects on the territory of Turkmenistan, with the establishment of long-term mutually beneficial partnership relations,” the speaker stated.

It is emphasized that joint work in these areas will contribute to:

  • Mutual energy sustainability.
  • Creation of new high value-added production chains.
  • Ensuring sustainable economic growth in the region.

Thus, Uzbekistan’s initiative opens new prospects for strengthening regional energy security and economic development in Central Asia through deeper integration and the joint implementation of major oil and gas projects.

Deepening Intergovernmental Cooperation – The Key to Sustainable Development

In his speech, Azizhoja Kobilov stressed that the energy security and sustainable development of the Central Asian region largely depend on deepening intergovernmental cooperation. Uzbekistan is consistently strengthening collaboration with neighboring countries, giving special attention to joint work within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

Within the framework of the OTS, special attention is paid to:

  • Developing joint approaches to energy transformation.
  • Exchanging experience in the field of renewable energy sources.
  • Developing cross-border networks.

In the Deputy Minister’s opinion, combining the experience and potential of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan can yield significant results for the development of the entire Central Asian region.
