On June 24, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov had a telephone conversation with the U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which the sides exchanged views on a wide range of fields.
The heads of foreign policy departments discussed key aspects of partnership cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The sides agreed to meet in the near future and hold bilateral yearly consultations.
The diplomats discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest, in particular, they touched upon the recent situation in the Middle East region.
It was once again emphasized that Turkmenistan, relying on the wide support of the world community for its neutral status, is firmly committed to the principles of preventive diplomacy and is assured in the effectiveness of diplomatic methods in resolving any international issues.
During the conversation, the strategy of further cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States was discussed.
