Foreign Minister of Malaysia to visit Turkmenistan

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan will undertake an official visit to Turkmenistan from 9 to 10 September 2024, says the press-service of Malaysia foreign ministry.

During his visit, the Foreign Minister is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to deliver a letter of invitation from Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim for President Berdimuhamedov to undertake an official visit to Malaysia in December 2024.

The Foreign Minister is also expected to call on National Leader of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

In Ashgabat, the Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan will hold a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, to discuss economic relations education, tourism, and technical cooperation between the two countries.

The visit of the Foreign Minister will be preceded by the 5th Bilateral Consultation between Malaysia and Turkmenistan at the Senior Officials’ level on 9 September 2024.

In 2023, Turkmenistan was Malaysia’s fourth-largest trading partner among Central Asian countries, with a total trade value of RM48.62 million (USD10.57 million).
