On 10 June 2024, a group of specialists from Turkmenistan visited the All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center, a branch of Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance).
During the visit, the main directions of the Institute’s activities were presented to the Turkmen specialists. Special emphasis was placed on the institute’s digitalization efforts and its use of information systems like FGIS Argus-Phyto, FGIS Argus-Laboratory, and FGIS Argus-Disinfection.
A question-and-answer session facilitated a dialogue between specialists. The discussion highlighted Russia’s systematic approach to guaranteeing the phytosanitary safety of plant-based products. Specific mechanisms for quality control and grain safety were also addressed.
The delegation toured the institute’s Testing Laboratory Center, which conducts all types of phytosanitary research, and the laboratory for pheromone development and application.
Furthermore, representatives from Turkmenistan expressed interest in training their specialists at the Center’s Training Center.
Russia has been a key trading partner of Turkmenistan for the past five years, with annual trade exceeding 150 billion rubles. Notably, the agricultural sector accounts for 25% of the total annual trade value, according to Rosselkhoznadzor.
