LUKOIL will take part in development of Dostluk Field in Caspian Sea 

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Head of the LIKOIL PJSC Vagit Alikperov.

Welcoming the guest, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has highlighted that while being one of the biggest world producers of hydrocarbon resources, Turkmenistan stands for establishment of wide international cooperation in energy sphere. Special attention is paid to such main aspects of energy strategy of our country as the growth of production of oil and gas, improvement of quality of production, increment of volumes and diversification of supplies of energy carriers to the world markets.

During the meeting, which was held in businesslike and constructive atmosphere, the sides have exchanged the views on perspectives of partnership, for which large-scale programs and infrastructural projects implemented in oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan open big opportunities.

Caspian region, which is strategically important center having huge economic, energy, transport and logistic potential, was a subject of detailed discussion. It was noted that it provides the need to establish coordinated international cooperation, which is based on legal requirements, mutual respect and interests.

In this context, the importance of recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on joint exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources at Dostluk Filed in Caspian Sea  has been highlighted.

Signing of this historical document has become an important event in strengthening and development of Turkmen – Azeri cooperation in energy field in Caspian Sea. In addition, new opportunities are opening for joint work and additional stimulus are created for attraction of big foreign investments to this region on long term base.

Following this, we welcome the intents of the LUKOIL PJSC to take part in development of Dostluk Field and are willing to review specific investment proposals on implementation of this project, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

In his turn, speaking of the plans of bilateral cooperation, the head of the LIKOIL PJSC has highlighted that the whole world recognizes the achievements of Turkmenistan in oil and gas industry including in processing sphere where modern technologies ae used actively. Signing of historical document with Turkmenistan will be a new milestone in the development of oil and gas industry of the country.

Having noted that LUKOIL has a great experience of work in Caspian as well as in Baltic offshore, Vagit Alikperov has expressed gratitidde to leader of the nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the trust assuring that his company would put all efforts for successful solution of objectives related to implementation of such important project as Dostluk.

First of all, this is related to accuracy and efficiency of work as well as to ecology. We know that Caspian Sea is a fragile system, hence, advanced and economically profitable technologies would be used, the businessman said.

Having noted that exploration of new deposits would be carried out at the same time, the head of LUKOIL highlighted that everything possible would be made for implementation of this project according to ecological requirements and timeframe.

Continuing the meeting, the sides have discussed the issues of oil and gas industry, active implementation of innovative technologies and digital system to the industry as well as expansion of the entire range of bilateral relations.
