A meeting with WHO Regional Office for Europe

A  meeting in the format of a videoconference of the heads of the ministries of health of the countries of Central Asia and the Russian Federation with representatives of the WHO Regional Office for Europe took place in the UN building in Ashgabat.

The Turkmen side was attended by the Deputy Minister of Health and Medical Industry and other representatives of this Ministry, as well as a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on the prevention and control of especially dangerous infectious diseases. Having discussed the current state of affairs in the region and in the world due to the new type coronavirus pandemic, the parties exchanged views on the necessity of adopting and implementing joint actions in combatting this dangerous disease.

The countries’ achievements in the field of prevention and combatting non-communicable diseases were discussed, an exchange of views on the need for joint actions in this direction for the near future, ensuring equal access to relevant medical data at the national and interregional levels, and the exchange of expert skills between specialists from the countries of the region was also held.
