Georgia and Turkmenistan pledge closer cultural ties and joint youth initiatives The Georgian Minister of Culture, Tinatin Rukhadze, has met with Bahar Seyidova, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, to discuss expanding cultural diplomacy between the two nations, the Ministry of Culture has announced.
According to the ministry, the two sides discussed prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation across a range of creative and heritage sectors.
“A key focus of the meeting was the upcoming signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the respective Ministries of Culture and key cultural institutions of both countries.
These agreements are designed to foster closer collaboration in museums, literature, music, theatre, cinema, and the protection of cultural heritage. They will also facilitate the exchange of professional expertise, further strengthening the cultural bond between Georgia and Turkmenistan.
Additionally, it was highlighted that as part of the Turkmen delegation’s official visit to Georgia, the ‘Days of Turkmen Culture’ festival will be hosted in the country,” the Ministry of Culture’s statement read.
“It was an honour to host the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan during the official state visit of the Turkmen President and his delegation. We had a highly productive discussion about our prospects, and we will sign several MoUs across various cultural sectors during this visit.
We also spoke at length about our plans, noting the fantastic connection that already exists between our young people. We must deepen this engagement even further, creating a platform for our youth to design and deliver many more outstanding joint projects across our region in the years to come,” Minister Tinatin Rukhadze stated.
The high-level meeting was also attended by Giorgi Mirtskhulava, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Culture; Zurab Bakuradze, Head of the International Relations Department at the Georgian Ministry of Culture; and Giorgi Nadirashvili, Chief Specialist of the same department.
Representing the Turkmen delegation alongside Deputy Chairman Seyidova were Maksat Hojamayev, an official from the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan; Gulnar Amanova, Chief Specialist of the International Relations Department at the Turkmen Ministry of Culture; and Atamurat Balibayev, representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
