On October 25, 2019, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived on a working visit to the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan in order to participate in the XVIII Summit of the Heads of States and Governments of the Non-Aligned Movement member countries.
From the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the President of Turkmenistan proceeded to the Baku Congress Center, which became the venue for the Summit. Azerbaijan holds this Forum as the country hosting the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement for the period of 2019-2022.
Upon arrival at the Congress Center President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was warmly and cordially welcomed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Having exchanged friendly handshakes, the heads of the two neighboring states took pictures against the background of the official banner of the Summit.
After the traditional ceremony of photographing of the heads of delegations against the background of the official banner of the Forum, the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement was opened in the Baku Congress Center. Among its participants are the leaders and representatives of major international organizations, including the UN, G-77 and others.
The agenda of this top-level meeting includes a wide range of topical issues of regional and global problems, including joint opposition to dangerous challenges and threats of our time, further steps to strengthen positive political dialogue and stimulate fruitful cooperation in the economic and humanitarian spheres.
