On 23 February 2026, political consultations were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Zimbabwe.
The delegations were headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Serdar Muhammetdurdyyev and Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe Albert Ranganai Chimbindi.
During the talks, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations. Particular attention was paid to intensifying political and diplomatic dialogue. The sides spoke in favor of developing contacts at the highest and high levels, holding regular consultations between the foreign ministries, and strengthening inter-parliamentary ties.
An exchange of views also took place on pressing regional and international issues. The parties expressed their readiness to continue cooperation within international structures, including the United Nations, as well as to support mutual initiatives on multilateral platforms.
In addition, opportunities to establish trade and economic partnership were considered. The significant potential for developing cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, textile industry, and other sectors was emphasized. In this regard, the expediency of establishing contacts between the business communities of the two countries, organizing joint business forums, and participating in exhibitions and trade fairs was noted.
In the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the parties expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the fields of education, sports, and tourism, as well as in holding joint cultural events and developing direct contacts between relevant institutions.
Following the meeting, the parties signed a Protocol on Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
