Turkmenistan participates in the UNESCO World Conference

A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Myakhri Byashimova, is participating in the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policy and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT-2025), which is being held from September 29 to October 1, 2025, in Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain.

The main goal of the conference is to develop strategic directions for cultural policy development for the coming decades and to integrate culture into the global post-2030 agenda as one of the key factors of sustainable development.

The World Conference is held once every four years and is the leading global platform for dialogue and cooperation in the field of cultural policy.

The Conference is attended by representatives of UNESCO member states, associate member states, and non-member states, as well as UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations, and international non-governmental organizations.

During the conference, which is attended by delegations from more than 160 countries, participants discuss current areas of international cooperation in the cultural sphere, including issues related to ensuring cultural rights, digital transformation, the interaction between culture and education, the development of creative industries, the relationship between culture and climate change, the preservation of cultural heritage in times of crisis, and the prospects for the use of artificial intelligence.

The conference includes ministerial dialogues and a number of parallel events.

Speaking at a thematic session combining the topics of “Culture and Peace” and “Culture and Education,” M.Byashimova emphasized the importance of the consistent policy of the President of Turkmenistan aimed at preserving and promoting the rich historical and cultural heritage, strengthening cultural dialogue, and actively promoting cultural diplomacy.

Turkmenistan’s firm commitment to UNESCO’s principles and ideals has been noted, as reflected in its active participation in the implementation of key programs and initiatives that contribute to strengthening partnerships and developing international humanitarian cooperation.

Turkmenistan’s participation in MONDIACULT-2025 has made a significant contribution to shaping the global cultural agenda and strengthening international cooperation in the field of culture and sustainable development.
