Turkmenistan and Japan Continue to Strengthen Cooperation

President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, received the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan, Akihisa Nagaşima. The meeting emphasized that Turkmenistan and Japan maintain successful cooperation not only on a bilateral basis but also within multilateral platforms. In this context, the importance of the “Central Asia – Japan” dialogue as a crucial regional cooperation platform was highlighted, and the participants expressed their hope for the success of the first summit of the heads of state involved in this dialogue.

The discussions focused on the rapid development of relations between Turkmenistan and Japan in political, diplomatic, trade, economic, social, and cultural fields. The Turkmen-Japanese Economic Cooperation Committee was noted as playing a significant role in this process. President Berdimuhamedov stated that Turkmenistan is highly interested in participating in “EXPO 2025”, which will be held in Japan in April, and that a special organizational committee has been established to oversee the necessary preparations. Japanese official Akihisa Nagaşima expressed that Japan is eagerly awaiting the participation of Turkmenistan’s high-level delegation in the event.
