On July 7, 2020, the consultations between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani took place through videoconferencing.
During the constructive talks, the heads of the MFAs of Turkmenistan and Bahrain exchanged views regarding the current state and perspectives of development of interstate relations, as well as the collaboration in the framework of reputable international organizations. The importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties was noted. The Ministers paid special attention to practical implementation of the prior agreements attained on the high level.
The diplomats reiterated the mutual interest of Ashgabat and Manama to the promotion of political-diplomatic dialogue, strengthening of trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
The regional agenda and consolidation of efforts of two friendly countries aimed at the overall struggle with the coronavirus pandemic were also discussed. In this context, the parties confirmed the relevance of the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan on the establishment of the Council of Medical Scientists and use of effective methods of scientific diplomacy.
Also, the important role of organizing joint business forums, development of cooperation in such spheres as energy and gas chemical industry was noted. The opportunities of conducting online meetings between the representatives of various public and private entities of Turkmenistan and Bahrain were considered.
