On January 27, 2022, Turkmen-Romanian inter-MFA consultations were held in the format of a videoconferencing.The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hadzhiev headed the Turkmen side. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Danut Sebastian Neculaescu, headed the Romanian delegation.
During the talks, the parties reaffirmed the commitment of the two countries to the development of Turkmen-Romanian relations in the political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian fields. The importance of regular contacts at the highest level, as well as interaction between the foreign ministries of the two countries in promoting bilateral ties was emphasized.Within the framework of constructive consultations, a wide range of issues in the political and diplomatic sphere was discussed. Thus, July 21, 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In this regard, it is proposed to hold a number of events, such as the exchange of messages at the highest level and at the level of foreign ministers, the organization of interviews and materials on bilateral cooperation, online lectures, round tables, conferences, etc.
Issues of partnership in the trade and economic sphere were also discussed, including holding a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.The priority topics of the current discussions were the need to intensify bilateral trade turnover, as well as expanding the legal framework for partnership.The interest of the parties in promoting cooperation in the field of education was also expressed.
