The Turkmen Delegation Holds Talks With The International Sport Agenciess

During the period of 15-17 January 2020, the Turkmen delegation led by the Minister of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan D.Gulgeldiyev was on a working visit to the city of Lausanne of the Swiss Confederation.  In the framework of the visit, the delegation had a meeting with the President of the International Tennis Federation David Haggerty.

At the meeting, the Turkmen side informed that during the current year in which Turkmenistan celebrates the 25th anniversary of its Permanent Neutrality, various events will take place in our state and foreign countries.  In this regard, it was mentioned that various international sport competitions will be held and in particular the Government of Turkmenistan is implementing all the necessary organizational work for the successful hosting of the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group IV competitions.   

In his turn, the President of the International Tennis Federation noted that he is satisfied with the level of cooperation with Turkmenistan and stressed the importance of developing collaboration in this area.      

The parties also exchanged views on the opportunities of expanding cooperation, in particular by concluding the Memorandum of Understating between the Tennis Federation of Turkmenistan and the International Tennis Federation, as well as the establishment of the Tennis Academy in our country.  The parties discussed the possibility of organizing the visit of the President of the International Tennis Federation D.Haggerty to Turkmenistan to get acquainted with the work carried out in Turkmenistan in the field of tennis and the sport infrastructure of our country which meets the world standards.        

In the end of the meeting, the Agreement was signed on hosting the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group IV competitions in Turkmenistan, including its organizational matters. 

In the framework of the working visit, the Turkmen delegation held meetings with the President of the Associations of the National Olympic Committees Robin Mitchell and the representatives of the International Olympic Committee. During the talks, the prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and these international agencies were discussed.
