During the period of May 20-22, 2019, the Minister of Sport and Youth Policy, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan paid a working trip to Moscow, the capital of Russian Federation upon invitation of the Chairman of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) V.Shestakov.
In the Moscow Office of FIAS, the Turkmen delegation discussed various issues related to organizing and hosting the World Sambo Championship to be held in Ashgabat in 2020. The decision to hold this major sport event was adopted on the 22nd of March 2019, during the session of the Executive Committee of the International Sambo Federation.
The relevant agreement was signed in accordance with the outcomes of the meeting held with the Chairman of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS) V.Shestakov and the session of the specifically established Working Group on holding the World Sambo Championship in Ashgabat.
