Meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus

On September 14, 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov had a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus I.V. Petrishenko, who arrived in Ashgabat to attend the 83rd meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of enhancing the effective development of Turkmen-Belarusian relations in the political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. It was noted that the two states successfully cooperate in the framework of authoritative international organizations, primarily the UN.

The parties also noted the growth of trade and economic relations. In this context, the positive role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarusian Commission on Economic Cooperation was noted. It was noted that countries successfully cooperate in the fields of energy, industry, construction and tourism. The issues of further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between the business circles of the two countries were discussed, and priority areas for cooperation within the CIS were outlined.

In addition, the parties discussed issues of expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation. In recent years, cooperation between scientific centers of the two countries has strengthened. Noting the need to strengthen cooperation in the field of culture and in the field of education, the parties considered further steps for their implementation.
