ITTC 2024: The Customs Services of Turkmenistan, Iran and the IRU signed a Memorandum of Understanding

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 26 November 2024 between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, the Customs Administration of Iran, and the International Road Transport Union (IRU) at the international exhibition and conference of the transport sector of Turkmenistan ITTC 2024.

This document is intended to strengthen cooperation between the three parties to ensure smooth, safe and efficient transportation of goods through the most important transport corridors connecting Turkmenistan and Iran, as well as to expand opportunities for international transport through the International Consignment Note (TIR) system.

The MoU will facilitate smoother, safer, and more efficient goods transportation by:

• Strengthening cooperation among the three parties
• Improving control over transport operations
• Ensuring transit transparency
• Enhancing security throughout the transportation process
• Reducing administrative barriers

By streamlining customs clearance and minimizing risks, the TIR system will contribute to improved logistics infrastructure and economic ties between Turkmenistan and Iran.
