Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament

The Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament has started in the city of Vienna of the Republic of Austria through videoconferencing.  The given event which was organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union jointly with the Parliament of Austria and the United Nations is attended by more than two hundred parliamentarians of various countries of the world, including the Chairwoman of Mejlis of Turkmenistan G.Mammedova.

Discussed actual issues of the international agenda

The Conference is being held under the overarching theme of Parliamentary leadership for more effective multilateralism that delivers peace and sustainable development for the people and planet.  In the framework of the given session, the participants, including the parliamentarians, representatives of the United Nations and international experts discussed the pressing issues of the international agenda, particularly the overall fight with the pandemic, global governance and the resolution of problems related to the climate change.

It is pertinent to note that being committed to the fulfillment of its international obligations, including the enhancement of the legislative system of the country, Turkmenistan stands for the solidarity and strengthening of cooperation in addressing the challenges of the modern world.
