EBRD:TAPI project and Trans-Caspian gas pipeline.

On the 30th of January 2019, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the delegation headed by Mr. Bruno Balvanera, Managing Director, Central Asia, of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development who came to Ashgabat on a working visit.

In the beginning of the meeting, gratitude was expressed to the EBRD delegation for active participation of the Bank’s representatives in different international forums organized in our country as well as for constructive cooperation during the whole working period of the EBRD Representative Office.  The parties affirmed active cooperation with the EBRD on the development of the banking sphere and private sector of Turkmenistan.    

During the meeting, Turkmen side expressed congratulations to Mr. Bruno Balvanera upon his appointment as the Managing Director for Central Asia of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and wished him success in joint work on further strengthening of partner relations.   

Then, parties discussed the issues of further development of bilateral collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.  In particular, issues on the expansion of regional cooperation of seaside states after signing the Convention on Legal Status of the Caspian Sea were underlined.  

The parties also exchanged views on further steps of realizing the TAPI project and Trans-Caspian gas pipeline.  Besides, they discussed various issues on the EBRD strategy for Turkmenistan for 2019-2024 which is being considered by Turkmen side for further proposals and comments.
