On 22 April 2024, the 3rd meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Romanian Commission on Road Transport, as well as the 4th meeting of the Turkmen-Romanian working group on cooperation in the field of transport, was held in the building of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania. The Turkmen delegation was headed by Guvanchmyrat Akmamedov, head of the «Turkmenavtoulaglary» [Turkmen Motor Transport] agency of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting was stated a high level of interstate interaction, built on the principles of mutual trust and mutual benefit.
In accordance with the agenda, the parties considered the implementation of previously reached agreements and the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the transit and transport sector. Noting the high level of partnership, the parties exchanged views on the possibility of expanding mutually acceptable cooperation in the field of transport.
Issues related to international freight transport between the two countries, the state of international road transport and the possibilities for their further development were also discussed.
It was noted that the parties pay special attention to the creation of the international transport corridor “Caspian Sea-Black Sea” and noted with satisfaction the ongoing work on the draft of the Quadrilateral Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan, the Government of Romania, the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which will make a great contribution to the development of international freight transport and logistics between Central Asia and Europe.
At the end of the meeting of the Turkmen-Romanian working group on cooperation in the field of transport, the parties signed the Protocol of the fourth meeting, as well as the protocol of the 3rd meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Romanian Commission on Road Transport.
