Bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union

On April 28, 2020, the video meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov with the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian was held.

The parties exchanged views regarding the regional and international agenda, as well as reiterated the necessity of overall cooperation and mutual support of the countries and nations in these difficult times for the world community.

During the online conversation, the issues of the development of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union were considered.  In particular, the implementation of the new EU Strategy for Central Asia and the joint activities planned for the near future were discussed.

The parties viewed the opportunities of implementing joint projects linked to various fields of the national economy of our country.  They paid special attention to the need of exchanging expertise and embedding good practices in such key sectors of the economy, as agriculture, transport, energy, advanced technologies and environment protection.
