In the halls of the University of California’s academic buildings, the song “The Legend of Leyli’s Hair” (I Have Come to You) by the National Leader of the Turkmen people resonated. Yesterday, an event titled “International Culture Day” was held by the Advanced Legal Scholars Association (ALSA) within the UC Davis School of Law. At the event, guests were treated to Turkmen pilaf alongside dishes and desserts from Iran, Brazil, Kenya, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and other countries. Participants also explored handicrafts representing the cultures of different nations, with special interest shown in the Turkmen display.
The event, held on the law school’s grounds, attracted local and international students, professors, specialists from the international department of the law school, and many guests.
The opening ceremony of International Culture Day was led by ALSA’s Secretary-General, Ela Sultanahmadi, who first gave the floor to Professor Bett Greenwood, Associate Dean of the Law School. Afterward, Professor Johann Morri, Associate Director of International Programs at the Law School, gave a speech. The ceremony concluded with remarks by Dr. Dovran Orazgylyjow, President of ALSA, who expressed his gratitude to the attendees.
Following the opening ceremony, participants enjoyed a musical program featuring songs from various countries, performed by ALSA’s Event Coordinator, Sedat Aydın. At that moment, the famous song by the Chairman of Turkmenistan’s People’s Council, “The Legend of Leyli’s Hair” (I Have Come to You), echoed through the corridors of the law school.
The dances performed by the participants further enlivened the event, adding to its vibrancy.
